The weekends Weatherford runs out of rooms.
Every hotel in town says it is close to everything. This page is the other thing – which dates fill Parker County, which venues cause it, and how far each one actually is from our front doors. We run three hotels here and we watch it happen every year.
The Precision Rifle World Championship is coming to Parker County.
The International Precision Rifle Federation holds its centerfire world championship at Gravestone Precision Shooting in Lipan, about 25 to 30 minutes southwest of us. National teams from more than twenty countries, up to thirty athletes each, across six days – plus coaches, families and spectators.
The Precision Rifle Series tells competitors that Weatherford is the closest town with everything they need, and points them at Exit 408 off I-20. That is our Hampton Inn & Suites and our Holiday Inn Express & Suites, with the Comfort Inn a few minutes further on South Main.

Recurring events that fill hotels across the whole town, not just ours. Dates that follow a rule are given as the rule, so this stays true.
Weatherford's largest single-day event, on the downtown square since 1985. Over 200 craft and food booths, two stages, the Peach Pedal bike ride and a "42" domino tournament. 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Next: 10 July 2027.
PRCA and WPRA sanctioned since 1947, and one of the largest rodeos in Texas. Opens with a cattle drive, parade and street dance. Trailer parking matters this week.
At Gravestone, Lipan. International teams, six days, and the single largest inbound event on the Parker County calendar this year.
Live music, food trucks and one of North Texas's larger fireworks displays at the amphitheatre. Free.
Chamber-sponsored community day downtown, opening with the Christmas parade. Pairs with the Candlelight Tour of Homes in the same month.
One of the oldest open-air markets in Texas, held the Friday, Saturday and Sunday before the first Monday of every month. A steady monthly bump rather than a sellout.
Weatherford College hosts the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association region meet at the Posse grounds. Competing colleges travel with rigs and stay multiple nights.
Residence hall move-in weekend, larger since Durant Hall added 118 rooms in 2024. Families arrive the night before.
Weatherford and Aledo both draw deep playoff runs. Visiting teams, bands and families, usually booked on short notice.
Not our event, but it fills Fort Worth for three weeks and pushes demand west. Same effect during cutting horse futurities at Will Rogers. Weatherford is thirty minutes away at a materially lower rate.
Dates given as a rule – "second Saturday in July" – hold every year. Specific dates are checked against the organiser's own listing and reviewed each January. Confirm anything you are staking a contract on.
Venues
Where it all actually happens.
Distances are road miles from Interstate 20 Exit 408, where the Hampton and the Holiday Inn Express sit. The Comfort Inn on South Main is a mile or two closer to most of them.
Gravestone Precision Shooting
Long-range and tactical bays on Cougar Road in Lipan, opened 2024. Host of the 2026 IPRF World Championship, monthly PRS centerfire matches, and two-day precision courses taught by former Marine Scout Sniper instructors.
Parker County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Grounds
The county's main arena and event centre on Mineral Wells Highway. PRCA rodeo, the college region rodeo, livestock shows and open events for most of the year.
Parker County Arena
Covered arena on FM 1885 known for its ground. Barrel racing, ropings and open shows, most running across two or three days with rigs on site.
Roger Williams Ballpark
Weatherford College's home baseball field on College Park Drive, and one of the better JUCO ballparks in the state. Every home series brings a visiting NJCAA squad.
Kangaroo Stadium
Weatherford ISD's stadium on Eureka Street, seating over six thousand. Friday nights in the autumn, and playoff football into November.
WBSA fields
Weatherford Baseball and Softball Association on Charles Street. Weekend tournaments through the spring and autumn seasons, with visiting clubs from across North Texas.
Cartwright Park soccer fields
The Weatherford Soccer Association's home ground, including a 4v4 tournament on Memorial Day weekend.
Canyon West Golf Course
Award-winning par 72 owned by Weatherford College, with elevated tees over the Parker County foothills. Scrambles and corporate tournaments through the year.
Also within a short drive: the WHS baseball complex on Bethel Road, Performance Sports Complex on Zion Hill Road, Riddle T-Ball Field, and D-BAT Weatherford on South Main. Drive times assume normal traffic.

Parking that fits
Free, uncovered, with room for a team bus, a gooseneck or a rig. Tell us what you are bringing and we will keep space.
Breakfast before call time
Hot breakfast from 6:00 AM at all three hotels. If your call is earlier, ask the night before and we will have to-go bags ready.
Rooms held together
Same floor where the building allows, so coaches and chaperones are not scattered across three levels.
One block, three hotels
Up to 215 rooms across the Hampton, the Holiday Inn Express and the Comfort Inn, on one rate with one booking link and one person handling it.

Which weekends does Weatherford sell out?
The reliable town-wide sellouts are the Peach Festival on the second Saturday in July, Sheriff's Posse Rodeo week in June, Christmas on the Square on the first Saturday in December, and the Fourth of July. Add the Precision Rifle World Championship, 23 to 28 September 2026. Sixty to ninety days ahead is the safe window for those, and sooner for the championship.
Where do people stay for matches at Gravestone?
Weatherford is the closest town with a full choice of hotels and restaurants, about 25 to 30 minutes from the range. The Precision Rifle Series points competitors at Exit 408 off Interstate 20 – our Hampton and Holiday Inn Express – with the Comfort Inn a few minutes on. All three have free parking with truck and trailer space.
Is there a hotel near Roger Williams Ballpark?
Roger Williams Ballpark is about two miles from the Interstate 20 hotels and roughly a mile from the Comfort Inn. We block rooms for visiting NJCAA teams through the season, and the schedule publishes far enough ahead to contract early.
Can you hold rooms for a youth tournament?
Yes. Ten rooms or more is a block, and we can hold up to 215 across the three hotels on one rate and one booking link. Bus and trailer parking is free, breakfast starts at 6:00 AM with to-go bags earlier on request, and we hold rooms together where the building allows.
How far is the Fort Worth Stock Show?
About thirty minutes east on Interstate 20, roughly thirty miles to Will Rogers Memorial Center and Dickies Arena. When Fort Worth fills during the Stock Show in January, or during a cutting horse futurity, Weatherford is the nearest town with rooms at a materially lower rate.
